What the coaches say

As well as providing a Premium subscription service for individual coaches, we provide packages to clubs of all sizes around the world. Here's a collection of some of the coaches and clubs that use The Coaching Manual to better the soccer experience they provide to their players.

Luke McAvoy

MSB Woolton, Merseyside, UK

"Since we set up with The Coaching Manual, personally, I think it's a really good site. The content gives you inspiration but I've especially found the season planner useful. We're all volunteers, and the season planner really helps us keep on top of things."

"The content that you get access to [on The Coaching Manual] is a lot different from jumping on YouTube and trying to find a video. It's a lot more structured, best practice in a sense, so what we've got to do is promote best practice and that's probably where The Coaching Manual helps us the most."

Jamie Killeen

Northern New Hampshire Soccer Cub

"What The Coaching Manual has helped us to do is build a training program. I've been in soccer here in the States for 35 years. I've been to many different clubs, rec programs, college programs, high level club programs, high school programs, and not one has ever put me through a training program.

"That makes no sense whatsoever. If you want to be the best at something - if you want to be the best soccer player, if you want to be the best accountant, or the best lawyer - you're going to need someone to teach you how to do that, and that's what The Coaching Manual is for us."

Lewis Padania

AFC Alsager

"It's brilliant, the videos by the coaches are brilliant. Also the session planner that comes with it is fantastic. Between the end of our match on the Sunday and our training on Thursday I build my sessions on The Coaching Manual. I pull bits from various sessions to build my own, because it's set up so the practices work really well together. It's really helped.

"I've been using The Coaching Manual for about a year now and it's been really useful as our under-16s are getting more into the adult side of the game - thinking with their heads rather than just with their feet. They've got to learn how to play the game tactically."

Gary Crooks

Calgary Rangers

"I feel that The Coaching Manual platform, with its video content, animations, how you are able to create the sessions, and aesthetically as well - it's very easy to follow. That's from some of the feedback I've had from coaches.

"It also means they can refer to their plans at any point. They're not going to have a lot of time to look at session plans, so now that we are able to plan things weeks in advance they can look at the sessions that are coming up. The Coaching Manual is a really good fit to help us and develop that program."

Tim Phlegar

Northwest FC

"I brought The Coaching Manual to our club. Like a lot of coaches, I was browsing YouTube, and I kept coming across The Coaching Manual's content, and then one of those days I just clicked in and thought wow - there's a lot more out here than I realised.

"Every year I do a check and say 'hey guys, do we want to keep this?' and everybody's like 'yes, please!' - one year I accidentally let our renewal expire, and my phone blew up that day. Everybody was asking what happened to The Coaching Manual!"

Jamie Gilbert

FC Pride Soccer Club

"We didn't realise how good The Coaching Manual is until we really got to grips with it. It's been so good for what we're trying to do and It's going to help the implementation of the curriculum that we're putting together."

"That was my first exposure to The Coaching Manual, and the quality of the service that was out there. Straight away as an individual I was like "I am signing up for that". You get the session planning tool - it's so easy to sit there on The Coaching Manual and plan what you're going to do. For me it was perfect, I had such a good experience using it I didn't need to use anything else. I stand by The Coaching Manual, it's done wonders for our club."

David Cartlidge

AFC Alsager

"I searched through The Coaching Manual to find sessions. I decided I wanted to focus on passing - for me that's the core, passing and ball skills - I looked through the content and the sessions on TCM, there are loads there. I found some that were simple enough for the players who had never actually done anything technical like that before, and then I just cut and pasted them using the Session Plan tool. I then shared it with the other coaches, we came down to the training pitch, and followed it.

"The videos on The Coaching Manual are really useful. They explain what they're going to do, then the camera shows the session - you listen to what the coach is saying, when they choose to step in, then they come back and give an overview of what they did and why. For me, as a brand new coach, that is invaluable."

Al Gardiner

Rushmoor FC, UK

As the head coach I have been using The Coaching Manual for years. I introduced it to the club as a coaching product and tool that not only my coaches can use but also our players. The functionality of it as a coaching tool is unreal, mainly because it's an entire coaching manual in your pocket when you are late home from work and don’t have time to plan, get the phone out, find a plan, and coach it.  For those that are more structured, the age-related coaching folders that you can create yourself are perfect for setting relevant sessions to your age groups, but the season plan can take this all out for you.

"One of our head coaching group used the coaching manual to plan his entire UEFA B futsal qualification and religiously uses it every week
