About us

Built by coaches, for coaches

The Coaching Manual started in 2011 with one belief: there is a better way for coaches to learn. Fifteen years on, coaches at more than 2,000 clubs across the UK, the US and beyond use it to plan, deliver and improve their sessions.

Why we started

Most grassroots coaches are volunteers. They give up their evenings and weekends, often with little training and less support, and they have a huge say in whether the children they coach fall in love with the game.

We think those coaches deserve the same quality of support as a professional academy. Our job is to make that support easy to reach: sessions they can trust, tools that save them time, and a clear standard to work towards.

Made with the professional game

Our full coaching sessions are filmed with Southampton FC, Rangers FC and some of the most recognised coaches in the professional game, so coaches can see exactly what good looks like. Every session is built in clear stages, with the coaching points that matter most.

Around the content sit the tools coaches and clubs use every week: a session planner, ready-made season plans, and club-wide folders and reporting so directors of coaching can support every coach.

What we stand for

Three things have guided how we build The Coaching Manual since day one.

01

Practitioner-led

Our content is made by people who coach. We would rather show a coach what good looks like than tell them.

02

People, not just software

Every club gets a real person to guide them through onboarding and beyond. The software helps. People make it stick.

03

One standard for every coach

First session or five hundredth, every coach at a club should be working to the same high standard.
