About Tony Whelan
Tony's playing career began at the Manchester United youth team in the late 1960s he played with with George Best and has worked with Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Matt Busby, and Sir Alex Ferguson during his decades-long affinity with the club.
After coming through the ranks at United, Whelan's storied career saw him feature for Manchester City and Rochdale, as well as NASL teams in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Fort Lauderdale.
After completing his coaching badges at Lilleshall, he spent a brief spell as a social worker in Manchester, before being invited back to Manchester United as a coach in 1990 by Brian Kidd and Nobby Stiles.
