The journey to the top of football usually has a familiar starting point

Harry Maguire's journey to the top of club and international football had a starting point that all of us who love this game recognise. It was with his brother and it was with his mates (who would become lifelong friends) at his local club, down the park or wherever he could kick a ball and have fun.

Harry had the talent, mindset and opportunity to get to the pinnacle, but for those at Brunsmeer Athletic, who weren't going to make it, it didn't matter. They could be proud of their pal and they loved playing, whatever the level.

For clubs like Brunsmeer Athletic, it's not easy. Clubs like Brunsmeer rely on dedicated volunteers - often parents with full-time jobs - who give their time to keep the game alive. They support a bunch of kids who become a second family. Without little formal training, they do their best, but they need support to truly nurture the next generation of players.

When The Coaching Manual gave Harry the chance to bring top-tier coaching education to his boyhood club, he didn’t hesitate. It was more than just an opportunity - it was a way to give back, to help the next wave of young players experience the same passion and joy that shaped his own journey.

"I love the area I grew up in. I still have a house there now. My dad was a coach at Brunsmeer and that gave me the opportunity to play. Dad gave up his time to support me and the other kids, many of whom I still speak to. Without Brunsmeer, I wouldn't have had that opportunity to play and develop.

So it's a no brainer, some of the lads I grew up with are still part of the club, if I can support them and all the local families who rely on Brunsmeer, of course I'm going to help.

Who we are

A world class education platform for football

Since 2011 we have been at the forefront of supporting coaches the world over to deliver better coaching sessions for children.

Founded by Chris Barton who, as a YT at Carlisle United was part of one of the most successful periods in Carlisle's Academy history coming through the ranks with Matt Jansen and Rory Delap amongst others.

Since our formation we have led the way in online football education, but it goes further than just great sessions. Football is our passion and we have built the most comprehensive platform to support education in the modern world.
