We didn't realise how good The Coaching Manual is until we really got to grips with it. It's been so good for what we're trying to do and it's going to help the implementation of the curriculum that we're putting together.
You get the session planning tool, and it's so easy to sit there and plan what you're going to do. For me it was perfect. I had such a good experience using it I didn't need to use anything else. I stand by The Coaching Manual, it's done wonders for our club.
What The Coaching Manual has helped us to do is build a training programme. I've been in soccer here in the States for 35 years, at rec programmes, college programmes, high-level club programmes and high school programmes, and not one has ever put me through a training programme.

Like a lot of coaches, I was browsing YouTube and I kept coming across The Coaching Manual's content. One day I just clicked in and thought, wow, there's a lot more here than I realised.
Every year I ask, "Hey guys, do we want to keep this?" and everybody says yes, please. One year I accidentally let our renewal expire and my phone blew up that day. Everybody was asking what happened to The Coaching Manual!
The content gives you inspiration, but I've especially found the season planner useful. We're all volunteers, and the season planner really helps us keep on top of things.
It's a lot different from jumping on YouTube and trying to find a video. It's more structured, best practice, and promoting best practice is where The Coaching Manual helps us the most.

The videos by the coaches are brilliant, and the session planner is fantastic. Between our match on Sunday and training on Thursday, I build my sessions on The Coaching Manual, pulling bits from different sessions because the practices work so well together.
It's been really useful as our under-16s get into the adult side of the game, thinking with their heads rather than just their feet.

The platform, with its video content, animations and the way you can create sessions, is very easy to follow. That's the feedback I've had from our coaches.
They don't have a lot of time to look at session plans, so now that we can plan weeks in advance they can see the sessions coming up. The Coaching Manual is a really good fit to help us develop that programme.
I wanted to focus on passing and ball skills, so I looked through the sessions on The Coaching Manual. There are loads. I found some simple enough for players who'd never done anything technical before, built them into a plan with the session planner, shared it with the other coaches, and we followed it on the training pitch.
The videos explain what they're going to do, show the session, let you hear when the coach steps in, then explain what they did and why. As a brand new coach, that is invaluable.

As head coach I've used The Coaching Manual for years. It's an entire coaching manual in your pocket when you're late home from work and don't have time to plan: get the phone out, find a plan, and coach it. For the more structured, age-related folders are perfect, and the season plan can do it all for you.
