The Coaching Manual is proud to introduce Martin Hunter as one of our leading course contributors on the upcoming TCM Certificate Level 1 course - which begins on September 7. For more information about the course itself, click here.
"When it comes to football nous at The Coaching Manual (TCM), we are incredibly well represented. Chris (my brother) was a scholar at Carlisle United, his football knowledge was forged in the furnace of the professional game.
He was part of a generation of players at Carlisle that included Matt Jansen, Scott Dobie and Rory Delap. There are very few people who read the game in such finely tuned detail as Chris.
We also have Paul Bright, our technical director, who has dedicated his life to being a student of the game. Paul is ably supported by a dedicated team including Lee Fletcher and Steven Crane, who have also immersed themselves in the pursuit of football and coaching knowledge. In addition to this expertise, we have an enviable list of contributors to TCM, who have helped to create what is undoubtedly the world’s most exhaustive football education resource.
However, we are now delighted to announce Martin Hunter. In Martin, we introduce perhaps the pre-eminent coach educator in world football. His pedigree is unquestionable.
Martin and as his contemporaries Dick Bate (the legendary FA coach educator who passed away in 2018) and Les Reed (currently the English FA Technical Director), are part of a lineage of football knowledge that includes some of the finest minds the game has produced; including Sir Bobby Robson, Howard Wilkinson and Sir Alf Ramsey.
Since TCM started, I’ve been very lucky to get to know Martin well. In fact, I consider Martin, Les, and Dick, as the godfathers of The Coaching Manual. The conversations Chris and I have had with all three over the years, have had an incredible influence on how TCM has been built and our approach to football education. We have been fortunate, in my mind, to discuss coach education and football at the top table.
The standards that Martin insists upon are impeccable and have had a huge bearing on how I approach coaching. His attention to every fine detail is ‘marginal gains’, long before Dave Brailsford popularised the methodology. As an educator on the UEFA Pro License, his experience within coach education is unrivalled.
The knowledge I’ve gained from Martin and Les has always been my secret weapon as a coach, without them and the resources on TCM, I don’t know how I would have ever navigated the coaching journey and deliver what I know has been a fine football education to my players thus far.
Therefore, I’m delighted that we are sharing this knowledge with participants on the TCM certificate. I’m confident that it will be one of the most informative and rewarding coaching certificates you will take, regardless of any other qualifications you have. As a free course for those on annual premium subscriptions, it will be an outstanding experience.
If you are a premium member, we hope you are able to participate. If not, sign up to an annual membership and join the many coaches who have already chosen to take the course. I guarantee you will not be disappointed."
